Blanc de Noirs 2019 - Champagne Philipponnat

An ambitious blend built around the great Pinot Noir terroirs of Ay and Mareuil-sur-Ay, the Blanc de Noirs Brut comes exclusively in great vintages: it is the result of a meticulous selection of the year’s best wines. Vinous and powerful, this cuvée is nevertheless elegant and fresh. It can be enjoyed on its own or with a whole meal.

Blanc de Noirs 2019 is produced from the first press, exclusively from Pinot Noir from the Premiers and Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims and from our Mareuil-sur-Ay and Avenay vineyards. Traditional vinification prevents premature oxidation. It is carried out without any malolactic fermentation for some of the wines made in wood and vats (71%). Its extra-brut dosage (4.25 g/l) maintains the balance between freshness and vinosity, without masking the wine’s character or purity.

The Blanc de Noirs cuvée is aged for at least five to seven years to bring out the full complexity of the wine and its secondary and tertiary aromas, the result of prolonged ageing on lees.

Its colour is an intense gold with a few pink highlights typical of the Pinot Noir grape variety. On the nose, the first aromas are of floral notes of violet and acacia blossom. A second, more open and expressive nose brings fruity notes of apricot, strawberry and morello cherry. On the palate, the attack is full and delicious, with notes of wild berries. The finish is fresh and elegant, with hints of spice, aniseed and liquorice.

Cuvée Blanc de Noirs 2019 is perfect with chicken tajine with apricots and almonds, as well as terrines and foie gras.
